On average, athletes I coach train for around 60–90 minutes per session, some have shorter workouts, while others have longer depending on their individual needs. With the OPTILIFT Method, nothing is one size fits all. Your program is 100% customised to your individual needs, meaning we’ll work together to create the perfect training plan that fits your lifestyle rather than hindering it. The goal is always to deliver high quality sessions that move you closer to your PBs, without taking over your life.
OPTILIFT team programming is built to target the most common technical faults seen in lifters while building the strength and speed needed to improve the snatch and clean & jerk. It’s ideal for athletes who want to refine their technique, supplement other sports, and develop weightlifting skills to become a stronger, more well-rounded lifter. You still get regular feedback on your lifts to keep you improving week after week.
1:1 coaching, on the other hand, is fully tailored to you. It starts with a detailed movement assessment to identify your current strengths, weaknesses, and technical habits. From there, every part of the program is designed specifically for your needs and goals. You’ll have weekly check-ins to make adjustments where needed, plus monthly goal-setting sessions to keep your training heading in the right direction.
Lifters who commit to the OPTILIFT METHOD 1:1 Coaching often see dramatic improvements in both their technique and their numbers. It’s not uncommon for athletes to add noticeable weight to their lifts in just a few months — with many increasing their snatch by 5–10kg, hitting clean & jerks that are 10–15kg heavier than before, and pushing their squats and presses up by 10–20kg. These aren’t just numbers on paper; they’re the confidence boost of standing over a bar you once thought was out of reach, the satisfaction of moving it with better form than ever, and the thrill of chasing down your next personal best. At the most basic level, you’ll need a barbell, weight plates, and a squat rack — making this program perfect for both commercial gyms and well-equipped home gyms.
While jerk blocks can be useful for certain drills, they’re not essential. Optional items like weightlifting shoes, belts, and straps are entirely down to personal preference and comfort.
The program is customised to what you have available, and can be adjusted to the equipment you have access to. I have lifters training out of their garage with minimal equipment where others are training is fully equipped training gyms. The program is made for you, using what you have available.
Absolutely — feedback is at the heart of the Optilift Method. After you complete your training sessions, you can submit videos of your lifts through TrainHeroic, where I’ll review them and provide clear, actionable feedback within 24–48 hours. This might be in written form with specific cues you can apply straight away, or as a video breakdown so you can see exactly what needs adjusting and why. Your preferred feedback method will be used most of the time, so the coaching always works in the way that suits you best.
On top of this session-to-session feedback, you’ll also have weekly check-ins where we review how your training is going, make any adjustments needed, and keep you accountable. Every month, we’ll run a goal-setting session together to make sure your training is always heading in the right direction — refining technique, building strength, and moving you closer to those all-important PBs.
